How is lime oil used in cosmetics and personal care?

The oil is a natural fragrance component and a fresh-scent active in leave-on and rinse-off cosmetics: creams, lotions, body washes, soaps, shampoos and deodorants.

Formulation notes

  • Add in the cool-down phase to protect the volatile top notes.
  • Use an antioxidant or a sealed system; citrus oils oxidise.
  • Declare limonene and citral when above the EU labelling thresholds.
  • Respect the IFRA category limit for the finished product.

Cosmetic use follows the Cosmetic Safety Technical Specification in China and EU 1223/2009 in Europe. G4S supplies the INCI name, the allergen quantification and the SDS.
