TCM Background
- In traditional Chinese medicine, E Zhu is classified as pungent and bitter in taste, warm in nature, acting on the liver and spleen meridians
- Its classic actions are 'moving qi and breaking blood stasis, resolving accumulations and relieving pain'
- Pharmacopoeia-grade raw material is sourced from Dao-di production areas, mainly Guangxi zedoary and Wenzhou wen-ezhu, to guarantee curdione and germacrone content
- Zedoary is frequently paired with Yujin and Jianghuang in formulas, but its oil is distinctly stronger, hotter and more penetrating
