How is this patchouli oil transported and stored in bulk?
Patchouli oil is a non-dangerous good under normal transport: its flash point of 95-110°C (closed cup) keeps it outside the flammable classification of UN 1266. It ships as standard freight, which simplifies logistics and lowers cost compared with hazardous materials.
Transport Classification
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| UN number | Not applicable (non-dangerous at this flash point) |
| IMDG/ADR/IATA | Not classified as dangerous goods |
| Packaging | Drums with sealed food-grade inner liner; aluminium bottles for small quantities |
| Temperature | Avoid prolonged exposure above 40°C; keep away from heat sources |
Packing Options
- Bulk: 25 kg, 50 kg, 180 kg drums (food-grade HDPE or aluminium)
- Intermediate: 5 kg aluminium bottles, 10 kg cans
- Retail/industrial: 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg amber glass or aluminium bottles
- Custom packing: private-label bottles with your artwork under OEM service
In-Transit and Warehouse Notes
- Keep drums upright and secured; patchouli oil is viscous and denser than water, so leaks pool rather than float
- Store in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse away from oxidising agents
- On arrival, inspect seals, weigh and sample for QC; keep the COA for each batch
- Because the oil is non-corrosive and non-hazardous, it can share a container with most non-food and food-safe cargo when properly segregated
