Is orris absolute supply seasonal?
Yes, in two ways. First, rhizomes are harvested in a short summer window (typically June–July) and must be peeled and prepared immediately. Second, usable absolute only emerges after 3+ years of aging, so availability is driven by the aging pipeline rather than a single season. Year-round availability is maintained by our rotating aged reserve, but volumes are finite.
Seasonality Timeline
| Stage | Timing |
|---|---|
| Harvest & peeling | June–July |
| Aging period | 3+ years in ventilated dark storage |
| Extraction | Year-round from aged reserves |
| New-crop arrival | 3 years after harvest |
- Each crop year produces a limited quantity of future supply; quality varies slightly with growing-season weather
- Because the pipeline spans 3+ years, year-to-year price and availability are smoothed by our reserve policy
- For launch-critical projects, reserve volume at harvest time to secure both price and quality
We track each crop's expected release date — ask for the current aging-pipeline availability chart.
