Which botanical species does this orris absolute come from, and where is the rhizome sourced?
This orris absolute is solvent-extracted exclusively from peeled, naturally aged (minimum 3 years) rhizomes of Iris pallida Lam. (Dalmatian iris) and Iris germanica L., the two species specified in ISO 18054:2004. Florence, Italy, is the traditional producing region, and our supply chain follows the same botanical and aging discipline.

- Only Iris pallida and Iris germanica are recognized for true orris perfume material; other iris species yield little or no irone
- The rhizomes must be peeled and aged 3+ years for the irone precursors (iridals) to convert through enzymatic and oxidative reactions into the precious ionone-family aroma
- Each batch carries full botanical and harvest traceability, including cultivation origin and aging period
Full traceability records, from cultivation to aging to extraction, are documented in the batch COA for your compliance review.
