Is this lemongrass oil tested for heavy metals and pesticide residues?
Yes. Food-grade batches are tested for heavy metals by AAS/ICP with internal limits of Pb ≤2 mg/kg and As ≤1 mg/kg, and FCC 12 requires a negative lead test (GT-16-5) for the food monograph. Pesticide residue screening is available on request, and the organic line is produced under certified organic farming rules that prohibit synthetic pesticides.
Testing Scope
| Parameter | Method | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Lead (Pb) | AAS/ICP | ≤2 mg/kg (internal food grade); negative per FCC GT-16-5 |
| Arsenic (As) | AAS/ICP | ≤1 mg/kg |
| Cadmium / Mercury | AAS/ICP | On request |
| Pesticide residues | GC-MS multi-residue screening | On request (e.g. EU MRLs) |
| Microbiological | Plate count | TAC ≤1,000 CFU/g; yeast & mould ≤100 CFU/g |
| Mycotoxins | LC-MS/MS | Not applicable in normal practice (steam distillation, hydrophobic oil) |
- Steam distillation itself removes non-volatile contaminants, which is why heavy-metal results are typically far below the limits
- If your destination market requires a specific pesticide panel (for example EU MRLs or a Chinese export declaration), tell us the target list in advance so the lab plan can be included in the batch
- Test results are attached to the COA; third-party testing (SGS, Eurofins) can be arranged at the buyer's cost
