How is this lavender essential oil extracted?
We use steam distillation — the only method prescribed by the direct product standards GB/T 12653-2008 and ISO 3515 for lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) oil.
Process Overview
- Fresh flower spikes are harvested at peak bloom and pre-cleaned
- Spikes are loaded into stainless-steel stills (500–5,000 L, steam-jacketed)
- Saturated steam at 0.2–0.6 MPa strips the volatile oil in a water-oil azeotrope
- The condensate passes through a tube condenser and is separated in a Florence flask oil-water separator
- The oil is filtered, filled under nitrogen and stored away from light
Lavender yield is naturally low — about 15–45 kg of oil per hectare at typical planting densities of 10,000–15,000 plants/ha — which is why pure true lavender commands a premium price. No solvents, no additives, no blending. A GC-MS profile accompanies every batch to document composition.
